It’s important to ensure that a player’s physical, mental and emotional skills are highly developed to execute play options that have been identified.
We at NeuroSlam believe that coaches and trainers may work with players during practice sessions by taking a ‘pointed discovery’ approach. For example: “What were you trying to do when you went headlong back into that scrimmage out there?” Having the player express their feelings is meant to make the player more self-aware of repeated mistakes.
A coach might be a good guide to player self-discovery, but with performance based cognitive and emotional skills assessment and feedback, there will be a more detailed picture to help guide players. They in turn will have specific knowledge and an ability to improve their deficits in order to reach and sustain peak mental performance.
